Memphis Reads is a city-wide reading program dedicated to “building community one book at a time.” We choose one author annually to engage our city in a book that addresses social issues relevant to this community. Noor is particularly pertinent and will lead to valuable discussion of the issues that need addressing in Memphis. We’ve been blessed to have many leading American writers join us in Memphis, and it is something we hope to continue with Dr. Nnedi Okorafor. By reading “Noor”, and having Dr. Okorafor give a talk with us in the fall, these interactions and conversations from all of the programming in 2022 will trickle beyond auditorium doors and into the lives of Memphians so we can continue to take steps toward a brighter, healthier future.
